Designated Districts
The unique layout of Goderich's core encompasses eight primary streets radiating from an octagon bounded by eight business blocks. This octagon, marketplace or civic square, with a park at its centre, is popularly know as the "The Square".
Non-Designated Properties
The Ontario Heritage Act, in addition to allowing municipalities to recognize heritage properties and districts through designation, also allows the creation of a list of potentially significant sites.
Marine Heritage
The Marine Heritage Committee was established in partnership with the Town of Goderich in 1999. Following the election in November 2010, the Marine Heritage Committee and Heritage Goderich were merged under the name Municipal and Marine Heritage Committee.
