Council approved additional cart allocations for multi-residential properties. These additional carts were supplied at a ratio of units in the building. If additional waste or organics is generated over the allowable volume, the owner can request an additional waste cart for a fee of $150.00, or must arrange for their own private direct disposal.
Allowances have been made for cart allocation for commercial-residential combination buildings in the downtown collection area where practicable.
Each eligible unit will receive 1 organic and 1 waste cart.

No, kitchen waste containers, often referred to as "kitchen catchers," are not provided as part of the organics curbside collection program. Residents are responsible for managing their waste within their homes and may choose to purchase their own kitchen waste containers. These containers typically range in size from 4L to 10L.
If you choose to use a kitchen waste container, you have the option of lining it with either paper liner bags, such as newsprint, or BPI certified compostable liner bags. When selecting compostable bags, look for the BPI certification symbols (below) to ensure they meet the necessary standards.
Please note that the organics program is focused on the collection of waste at the curb, and residents have the flexibility to manage their indoor waste collection in a way that best suits their needs.
